School Fees and Supplies
Perpetual poverty is a reality in many households in rural sub-Saharan Southern Africa as most family live a subsistent lifestyle based on agriculture. Most parents and guardians struggle to pay for basic primary and secondary education for their children. As a result many children, particularly girls, do not have the opportunity to attend school for financial reasons. In addition, those who afford the school fees often do not have the materials needed to succeed in school including notebooks, pens, uniforms, and more.
Chirindo Foundation solves this challenge by providing scholarships to primary and secondary school students in financial need. We work with local schools, teachers, and principals to identify students who need financial assistance. We also provide necessary school supplies such as notebooks, pens, and school uniforms.
In addition, we offer mentorship to students, particularly girls, by bringing in other successful women and men to show them that they can succeed as well rather than quitting school.
Our current goal is to sponsor 100 scholarships to primary and secondary school students in 2024.
Give every child the resources to attend school and succeed in rural Southern Africa!
