Basic Technology
Advances in technology have made our world more connected. Did you know that more than half of sub-Saharan Africa (~600million people) still has no power and schools do not have electricity? Students in rural areas use paraffin lamps and firelight to do homework, read, or study. Most of these rural schools also lack libraries where students can read books.
Chirindo Foundation is partnering with local manufacturers and vendors to provide small solar lambs to students. In addition, we are providing reading tablets that can be borrowed from the school libraries to read books. Solar tablets are an affordable way of supplying books compared to physical copies.
Our 2024-2025 goal is to donate 50 solar lamps to students in rural Southern Africa.
We also aim to supply reading tablets, preloaded with novels, and relevant material to schools where students can borrow and read.
Improve how schools teach and how students in rural Southern Africa study!
